I like this lens very much.. Most of my photos are using this lens. Very vivid, stunning background blur, great color. The minus only this lens is very slow at auto-focus. Comparing with other lens from canon... Yes this is the best portrait lens.
I have been reading a lot and listening to opinions and people say go with the 85 1.8 at the cost of 300 instead of going with the 1.2 for 1900.. That is one huge difference for not much of a quality difference. What is your take on this?
Yes.. that's what many people say, but some people including me.. we believe that higher price will give you better quality and better result. Especially from canon who make this lens. If not much differences why should they make this bloody expensive lens... I have 50mm f/1.4 and end up buying 50mm f/1.2 L... I always tell my friend that lens L series is a good investment. From time to time the good lens's prices never go down instead it keeps going up and up. And when you want to sell again... usually only 10-15% lost. Comparing with non-L series... 15-25% lost.
and.. in my own opinion... if we can afford it.. why not buy the best one? many people asking me when they want to start this photographer hobby thing... should they start with 1000D or 550D or 7D.. I told them there's no such thing like camera for beginner... if you could afford to buy the best one.. go for it.. because it will give you a much much more better result. If you are already an expert.. then using a low end camera can give you a dramatic picture. Photoshop really do magic to all the pictures.
Thanks just asked another expert well known on here and this was his reply "it's only 2/3 stop difference.. not much difference in dof or exposure" Im confused, hehe maybe i will save myself 1600 dollars and just go for the cheaper and get almost same result. thanks for opinion.
